Sports & Orthopedic Physical Therapy In Ankeny, IA
Don’t Let an Injury Take Away the Activities You Love.
Whether you’re trying to get back to running, lifting, golf, pickleball, recreational sports, or simply staying active, the goal isn’t just to make your pain go away.
It’s to understand what’s causing the problem, build your strength and confidence back, and get you doing what you love again.
At Stewart Sport & Spine Physical Therapy, you’ll receive one-on-one care built around your injury, your goals, and the activities that matter to you.
Built for Active People
Your Treatment Should Match Your Life.
An injury doesn’t just affect your body. It can keep you from training, competing, playing with friends, or doing the activities that make you feel like yourself. We work with active adults and athletes at all levels, creating a plan based on where you are now and where you want to get back to.
Running
Get back to running with a plan that addresses strength, mobility, movement mechanics, and training demands—not just the location of your pain.
Strength Training & Gym Injuries
Whether it’s a lifting injury or a problem that’s gradually developed with training, we’ll identify contributing factors and help you rebuild strength safely.
Recreational Athletes
You don’t have to be a professional athlete to deserve sports-focused care. We help recreational athletes return to the sports and activities they enjoy.
Pickleball
Stay on the court by addressing the strength, mobility, and movement demands that come with quick changes of direction, repetitive swings, and explosive movement.

Golf
Improve your ability to move, rotate, and generate force so you can get back on the course with greater confidence.

Active Adults
Whether you’re hiking, cycling, working out, playing with your kids, or simply want to stay active, treatment is built around keeping you moving.
Experience You Can Bring Into Your Recovery
Four Years at the Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine
Before founding Stewart Sport & Spine Physical Therapy, Dr. Josh Stewart spent four years at the Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in Navarre, Florida.
During that time, he gained extensive experience treating orthopedic and sports-related injuries while working with high-level athletes and complex cases.
He also had the opportunity to learn alongside and gain valuable experience from talented surgeons, physicians, and physical therapists, experiences that have substantially influenced the way he approaches patient care today.
That experience shaped a simple philosophy:
Don’t just treat the symptoms. Understand the person, the injury, and what they need to get back to.
More Than Getting Out of Pain
We Want You to Understand What’s Going On.
Pain can make you question what you should do next. Should you rest? Keep training? Get imaging? See a specialist? Push through it—or stop completely? Our goal is to give you a clearer understanding of what’s happening and a plan for moving forward.
Your care may include:
Detailed orthopedic evaluation
Hands-on physical therapy
Targeted therapeutic exercise
Strength and mobility training
Movement and technique assessment
Activity-specific progression
Education to help you manage your injury confidently
From Injury Back to What You Love
A Plan Built Around Your Goals
Your treatment shouldn’t end when you can move without pain in the clinic.
- If you’re a runner, we want to help you return to running.
- If you lift, we want to help you return to training.
- If you golf, we want to get you back on the course.
- If you play pickleball, we want you back on the court.
Your goals help shape your treatment plan.
One-on-One Care. Clear Direction.
At Stewart Sport & Spine PT, appointments are one-on-one so there’s time to properly evaluate your problem, answer your questions, and adjust your plan as you progress.
You’ll know what’s happening, why it’s happening, and what you can do about it.

“I have suffered from low back pain for over 15 years. I’ve tried several therapies to try to relieve the pain, including pain medication, traditional physical therapy, warm pool therapy, three different chiropractic styles, even spinal epidural injections. After about two months of sessions with Dr. Stewart, my mobility has increased, my pain levels have dropped significantly, and I have control of my own progress with the lessons and exercises he’s taught me. I truly believe I’ve avoided the eventuality of back surgery thanks to Dr. Stewart’s treatment, and I would highly recommend anyone with similar symptoms to contact him!”
